Our Story

The Holiday Park is owned and operated by brother and sister – Hugh and Niamh Darcy – with this present generation carrying on the family business which was started by our entrepreneurial parents Ed and Ria Darcy in 1969. Our brothers Riain and Eoin both worked in the business at different times over the years lending their expertise to various aspects of Morriscastle. Ria was the financial wizard and it was her backbone, strength and accounting skills that kept the Park going through difficult times supporting Ed’s determination and belief in Morriscastle bringing the Holiday Park to where it is today. Ed will never retire so we’ll be building and developing the Morriscastle dream for years to come!

Morriscastle Strand Holiday Park was one of the first campsites in Ireland opening originally with the one small camping field in June ’69 and has developed steadily over the years into a larger Holiday Park offering more up-to-date on-site facilities, daily activities, summer camps and fun events for all the family to enjoy throughout the peak summer months and bank holiday weekends in off-peak. Every winter we add something new to the offering at Morriscastle so that we are always improving and adding to the Park.

Our Awards

Over the last few years, we’ve been getting a bit of coverage in the Press and on TV which has culminated in a few nominations in the North Wexford Tourism Awards, The Wexford Business Awards and the Irish Hospitality Awards!

  • In 2014, we were runners-up to the amazing National Heritage Park in the Tourism Awards with the Wexford Business Awards.
  • In 2015 we were thrilled to have the ‘At Your Service’ team with Francis Brennan visit the park to film the show using Morriscastle as an example to a new park owner based in Limerick.
  • In 2016, were were delighted to be overall winners in the Wexford Micro Enterprise Award Category and were later mentioned in the 100 Best Places To Stay In Ireland article in The Irish Times that summer.
  • 2017 saw our Park nominated in the finals of the Irish Hospitality Awards.
  • In 2019 we were delighted to win the best Caravan/Camping/Glamping Experience at the Hospitality Awards.
